Two former ballplayers. Two survivors. Two vastly different personalities. Set against a zombie apocalypse, The Battery examines how the relationship between survivors can be just as deadly as the zombies scraping at the windows. If you’re a regular reader of Daily Dead, it’s a good chance that you caught our coverage of The Battery last year as part of our Indie Spotlight. After being a hit on VOD, Scream Factory is releasing this indie zombie movie to Blu-ray and DVD.

Available for pre-order soon, Scream Factory is releasing The Battery in home media format on September 16th:

"Several months ago we announced that the 2012 zombie film THE BATTERY would be coming out this Fall and now we can officially report a few confirmed details about it:

- Street date is 9/16. Pre-order links are going up soon.

- There will be a separate DVD and Blu-ray releases. Slipcovers planned on both.

- Artwork (as pictured) is reversible. The newly-created illustrated version (from artist "Kung Fu" Bob O'Brien) is one side and the original theatrical poster is on the other.

- No details on extras...but we are planning for them.

This dark comedy received rave reviews from many reputable horror outlets and fans last year and we're thrilled to be giving this fun ride and a shot at even being exposure. Stay tuned for more details in later on in our "Summer of Fear"."

Two former baseball players, Ben (Jeremy Gardner) and Mickey (Adam Cronheim), cut an aimless path across a desolate New England. They stick to the back roads and forests to steer clear of the shambling corpses that patrol the once bustling cities and towns. In order to survive, they must overcome the stark differences in each other’s personalities—Ben embraces an increasingly feral, lawless, and nomadic lifestyle—while Mickey is unable to accept the harsh realities of the new world. Mickey refuses to engage in Ben’s violent games and longs for the creature comforts he once took for granted. A bed, a girl, and a safe place to live.

When the men intercept a radio transmission from a seemingly thriving, protected community, Mickey will stop at nothing to find it, even though it is made perfectly clear that he is not welcome.

Jeremy Gardner wrote, directed, and starred in The Battery. The movie also features Adam Cronheim, Niels Bolle, Alana O’Brien, Jamie Pantanella, Larry Fessenden, and Kelly McQuade. In addition to the recently released cover art for The Battery, here’s a look at the trailer and an exclusive clip we ran last year:
