Rita Repulsa's nemesis has been cast in the new Power Rangers movie, as it's been revealed that Bryan Cranston will play the wise Zordon.

Announced on the new Power Ranger movie's official Twitter account, Bryan Cranston's casting as Zordon will pit him against Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa.

For those unfamiliar, in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV series, Zordon and Repulsa were longtime enemies, and had fought in an intergalactic war that lasted thousands of years. Zordon managed to imprison Rita in a "space dumpster," but not before the crafty antagonist trapped Zordon in a time warp. Zordon would go on to form the Power Rangers with the help of the robot Alpha 5, but he could only communicate with the teenaged team by appearing as a giant head floating in a blue tube.

Cranston coming on board the upcoming Power Rangers film will be a bit of a full circle experience, as the actor's voiceover work early in his career included the antagonists Snizard and Twin Man from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Additionally, the Blue Ranger's name Billy Cranston is based on Bryan Cranston.

Directed by Israelite (Project Almanac) and slated for a March 24th, 2017 release, the new Power Rangers movie also stars Becky G (Yellow Ranger Trini), Ludi Lin (Black Ranger Zack), Dacre Montgomery (Red Ranger Jason), Naomi Scott (Pink Ranger Kimberly), and RJ Cyler (Blue Ranger Billy).
