Fans of the Resident Evil video games and movies have visited Raccoon City before, by watching characters like Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield take on zombies and the evil Umbrella Corporation. But if you've ever wanted to be in their shoes, then you might be interested in a new paintball course in Japan that simulates the blood-splattered world of Resident Evil.

To celebrate their upcoming release of the 2002 Resident Evil remake remastered in high definition, Capcom has opened a paintball survival course at Base Camp Kawaba in Japan. Open now until the end of October, this unique course takes players into the world of Resident Evil through props that depict Raccoon City and the Umbrella Corporation base. Participants grab a paintball gun akin in appearance to an M-16 and partake in three different games:

  • Capture-the-flag
  • Zombie War: zombie players infect humans by hitting them with paintballs, adding more bodies to a growing living dead horde.
  • Defend the Dignitary: a bodyguard team tries to smuggle a VIP scientist with crucial evidence past a dogged Umbrella Corporation team.

Capcom’s remastered version of Resident Evil will be available digitally for the PC, PS3, PS4, XBox 360, and XBox One beginning in early 2015 in North America and Europe. Main characters Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, along with the zombies and other creatures they encounter within the mansion, will be a far cry from their blocky depictions in the 2002 version, as Capcom has given the game a 1080p look for next-gen consoles. Also featured is a new scrolling camera that flexibly focuses on moving characters.

Below, we have some images of the paintball course (a big thanks to Siliconera for the photos!):
