Another actor has joined what looks to be a fierce fight against one of the galaxy's greatest hunters in Shane Black's The Predator.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Trevante Rhodes will co-star in The Predator. Rhodes joins a cast that includes Boyd Holbrook and Olivia Munn, and he'll play the best friend of the former in the film, with both of their characters expected to be ex-Marines. The setting for the movie is rumored to be the suburbs, although that element of the story has yet to be confirmed.

Filming is slated to begin this winter on The Predator, which is scheduled for a February 9th, 2018 theatrical release from 20th Century Fox. Shane Black (who co-starred as the wisecracking Rick Hawkins in the original Predator) will direct The Predator from a screenplay he co-wrote with Fred Dekker (who helmed Night of the Creeps and The Monster Squad—the latter being a film he also co-wrote with Black).

The Predator is expected to reboot the franchise while also serving as somewhat of a sequel. Although there has been speculation, it's unclear at this time whether or not Arnold Schwarzenegger will reprise his role as Dutch from 1987's Predator.

Rhodes is currently on many film fans' radars for his standout performance in the Oscar-buzzed Moonlight, and he also appeared as Floyd in HBO's Westworld. Stay tuned to Daily Dead for more details on The Predator as they are revealed.
