At the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con, Daily Dead had the opportunity to catch up with undoubtedly one of the busiest people that weekend, writer/director/producer Guillermo del Toro, while on the red carpet of the Legendary Pictures press event.

We spoke with the iconic filmmaker about his latest project and Legendary collaboration, Crimson Peak, and reuniting with Jessica Chastain for the project after she co-starred in Mama, another film he produced in 2013. Del Toro also chatted a bit about The Strain and gave us his thoughts on how focusing on audiences’ deepest fears can still be one of the most powerful storytelling devices available as a storytelling device in horror.

Look for Crimson Peak in theaters on October 6, 2015.
