Hey Everyone- Happy Holiday Season! Hard to believe it’s already this time of year but the holidays are officially upon us now. We here at Daily Dead thought would make for the perfect time to launch our brand new Holiday Gift Guide. Over the next several weeks, Daily Dead is going to be posting some of our favorite gift items and ideas for all the horror and sci-fi lovers in your life (and if that means you, well- you deserve a gift or two this year, right?).

Every Monday through Friday, be sure to check back here at Daily Dead for a collection of great gift ideas- from movies to books to collectibles to soundtracks to t-shirts and other apparel to even items like a Nightmare on Elm Street toaster- we’re going to be bringing you an extensive array of gift choices for horror fans of all ages which you definitely won’t want to miss out on.

That being said- let’s get started! Check out Day One of Daily Dead’s 2013 Holiday Gift Guide below.

Movie: Our first movie recommendation would have to be Anchor Bay’s stellar 35th Anniversary edition Halloween Blu-ray, which Cinematography legend Dean Cundey oversaw and the attention to detail really shows. Not only is the transfer stunning, but the brand new commentary track featuring Master of Horror John Carpenter and star Jamie Lee Curtis is just awesome to check out, especially if you’re a huge fan of Carpenter’s Halloween. Even if you own other iterations of this title already, this Halloween Blu-ray is well worth the double-dip. Buy it HERE.

Apparel: I discovered a fun vintage-looking Camp Crystal Lake t-shirt while looking for Christmas presents on Amazon recently and I thought it would be the perfect item to share with the Jason Voorhees lover in your life.  I’m a big fan of anything that has a retro, timeless feeling to it and Crazy Dog t-shirts definitely hit the nail on the head here with their Friday the 13th inspired shirt. Buy it HERE.

Books: My first book recommendation would have to be Stephen King’s “Doctor Sleep.” I’m only about 100 pages in, but I’m absolutely hooked. If you grew up feverishly consuming King’s stories like I did, then you’ll undoubtedly enjoy “Doctor Sleep” as much as I am already. It feels very much like the King I grew up loving which is why I’d recommend it, even if you haven’t been reading King’s stuff for a while (much like myself). Buy it HERE.

Music: Undoubtedly, one of the coolest things to happen music-wise this year had to be the Goblin tour. Sadly, I was like one of three horror fans in LA who didn’t get to see them perform live during their recent shows here at The Egyptian. Thankfully, Death Waltz Recordings stepped up to the plate a released the “Goblin Tour 2013” album, which is about as close as you’ll get to the real thing. Featuring the music from two of my favorite scores ever, Suspiria and Tenebre (seriously, Tenebre is so, so, so good) as well as themes from Roller and Profondo Rosso, the “Goblin Tour 2013” vinyl is definitely a great addition to any horror fan’s collection. Buy it HERE.

Collectibles: For our first day, rather than give you a few collectible items, I thought it would be cool to highlight one of my personal favorite vendors, Horror Decor. I discovered them a few years back because of their awesome horror-themed pillows (I used to have their “Marshmallow Man” Ghostbusters-themed pillow until it got ruined by one of my pets last October) and over the years, their newer items (especially the classic VHS label pillow line) really keep me coming back to see what they’ll come up with next.  They do have some great holiday items for 2013 including some great ornaments (severed appendages, Sam from Trick r’ Treat and a cool Jason Voorhees one to boot) and awesome gore-themed horror pillows perfect for any couch or bed.

Daily Dead will also be giving away some cool items from Horror Decor later this month too as part of our upcoming Christmas Giveaway, but in the meantime, you can check out their site right HERE. There's tons of awesome stuff that would look killer in anyone’s home.
