"Beware; for I am fearless, and therefore powerful." Mary Shelley, the author of this compelling line and many more in her groundbreaking and now legendary 1818 gothic novel, Frankenstein, will be the subject of an upcoming romantic drama period film. Titled A Storm in the Stars, the movie will be helmed by the first female director out of Saudi Arabia, Haifaa Al-Mansour, and actress Elle Fanning has just signed on to portray the famous writer.

THR reports that Elle Fanning will play the 17-year-old version of literary lover Mary Wollstonecraft, aka Mary Shelley, just one year before she penned the epic novel, Frankenstein. The movie will focus on the blossoming romantic relationship between Mary and poet Percy Shelley and explore how Mary was ahead of her time, as she didn't allow society's gender prejudices to hold her back from writing an extraordinary book that is now, along with Bram Stoker's Dracula, a cornerstone of the horror genre.

Haifaa Al-Mansour (Wadjda) will direct off a script by Emma Jensen, and the project is being produced by Amy Baer's Gidden Media banner. Shooting is expected to begin in 2015. We'll keep Daily Dead readers updated on this movie as it moves forward.
