Spiders 3D recently had its premiere at the Los Angeles 3D Film Festival and will be playing at a number of festivals in the coming weeks. If you'd like to learn more about the movie we have an exclusive clip and some quotes from the film's director, Tibor Takacs:
"Following the crash of a derelict Soviet space station into a Manhattan subway tunnel, a new species of spider is discovered in the wreckage. When the spiders mutate to gigantic proportions, an MTA subway employee has to save his family and all of New York City from destruction.

Can you tell us how you came to be involved with Spiders 3D?
Tibor Takacs: I had been trying to get Millenium to do a medium budget 3D movie for a long time. After about two years about chatting about doing a 3D movie, I told them that the technology was catching up and making it possible to make a movie like this on a budget. They had been looking for a creature feature for a foreign market and I thought spiders would be perfect for 3D.
Did this present more of a challenge than you anticipated?
Tibor Takacs: We were very well planned, because I spent a year really researching the latest technology. I also hooked up with a DP who had been doing the same thing. He was interested in using the same camera I wanted to go with before even talking with me and it reinforced what we were doing and told us we were on the right track. The movie feels like there is a lot of movement without looking like it is handheld. Whether I'm shooting in 2D or 3D, I like to give the movie a feel of dimension.
What was your inspiration for the story?
Tibor Takacs: I always thought the cool thing about spiders were the way they are mechanized. The idea that they are alien in this movie is important to me. I wanted them to be some sort of mutated creature, probably influenced by my love of The Fly.
