The last time the super-powered quartet known as the Fantastic Four graced the big screen, filmgoers knew Chris Evans as the borderline reckless Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, a high contrast to his current turn as the responsible Captain America. The Fantastic Four reboot hits theaters from Fox next summer, but fans can get a taste of what's to come with the recent reveal of the film's synopsis.

20th Century Fox confirmed via IGN that the following description that appeared on Rotten Tomatoes is indeed the official synopsis of The Fantastic Four reboot:

"THE FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy."

The Fantastic Four is scheduled to come out in theaters on August 7th, 2015 and stars Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch), Kate Mara as Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman), Miles Teller as Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic), Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm (aka The Thing), and Toby Kebbell as Victor Domashev (aka Dr. Doom). Also in the cast are Reg E. Cathey and Tim Blake Nelson.

Josh Trank directs off a screenplay by Simon Kinberg and Jeremy Slater, reuniting Trank with Chronicle cast member Jordan. The Fantastic Four is Trank's second feature film. His third directorial effort will be a stand-alone Star Wars movie. Stay tuned to Daily Dead for more news updates on The Fantastic Four.
