Immersed in a gothic atmosphere, taking place in a haunted house with a personality all its own, featuring an impressive core cast of Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston and Charlie Hunnam, and directed and co-written by Guillermo del Toro, Crimson Peak is a movie many are looking forward to seeing when it hits theaters next fall, and now the first image from the film has been unveiled.

A Legendary movie that will be released by Universal Pictures on October 16th, 2015, Crimson Peak sees del Toro returning to the director's chair for a smaller, more intimate film. We have the first image from the movie below (from The Film Stage via Collider), which shows Jessica Chastain standing on the landing of an eerily lit staircase, as well as the official synopsis for Crimson Peak (via Collider):

"Legendary Pictures’ CRIMSON PEAK, a co-production with Universal Pictures, is a haunting gothic horror story directed by the master of dark fairy tales, Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy series, Pacific Rim), written by del Toro and Matthew Robbins and starring Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston and Charlie Hunnam. In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds…and remembers. Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, del Toro and Callum Greene produce, and Jillian Share executive produces."

About the Author - Derek Anderson

Raised on a steady diet of R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps books and Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Derek has been fascinated with fear since he first saw ForeverWare being used on an episode of Eerie, Indiana.

When he’s not writing about horror as the Senior News Reporter for Daily Dead, Derek can be found daydreaming about the Santa Carla Boardwalk from The Lost Boys or reading Stephen King and Brian Keene novels.
