Trapped in a realm of eternal darkness called "The Further", a host of demons are desperate to get out... and need to possess a human body in order to escape their eternal torment. The Lambert family has fended off malicious forces from beyond on more than one occasion in the Insidious film franchise, and with Insidious Chapter 3 set for release next April, the prisoners of The Further will likely try to break into our world again. The third entry in the horror franchise is beginning to take shape with the first casting news.

Deadline reports that actress Stefanie Scott (TV's A.N.T. Farm, No Strings Attached) has signed on to star in Insidious Chapter 3, due out in theaters on April 3rd, 2015. Both the film's plot details and Stefanie's character outline are unknown at this time. The actress is also appearing in another Blumhouse Productions project that might please 1980's cartoon fans: the live-action adaptation of Jem And The Holograms.

It was recently revealed that actor/writer Leigh Whannell will make his directorial debut with the third chapter, taking over for genre guru James Wan, who helmed the first two Insidious entries before taking the director's chair on the upcoming Fast & Furious 7. Not only has Whannell collaborated with James Wan on multiple projects over the years, but he wrote the first two Insidious movies and had a role in them as Specs. He’ll be both writing and directing Insidious Chapter 3, and it’s likely he’ll be back as Specs as well.

Stay tuned for more Insidious Chapter 3 updates as this film gets closer to filming.
