In case you missed the news, a sequel to The Purge is on the way. The plot of new movie is still being kept a secret, but a new report reveals that Frank Grillo has been cast in the lead role. Frank Grillo may not be a household name yet, but he's a name you'll be hearing quite a bit. On top of his recent appearance in The Grey, we'll see him soon in Captain America: The Winter Solider and James Wan's Demonic.
James Monaco wrote, produced, and directed the first movie and has returned for the sequel. We'll let readers know as soon as more details become available, but for those that missed the first movie, here's the synopsis:
"One night a year, all crime is legal and no one is safe in The Purge, a thought-provoking thriller from director and writer James DeMonaco (Assault on Precinct 13, The Negotiator) and producer Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Sinister). In a future America, the government has sanctioned an annual 12-hour period, The Purge, in which any and all criminal activity, including murder, is legal. On this night, one family is tested to see how far they will go to protect themselves when the vicious outside world breaks into their home."
The Purge 2 will be released by Universal on June 20th, 2014.
