To kick off the month of July, there are a ton of genre Blu-ray and DVD releases coming out that should get you through the long holiday weekend if barbecues and fireworks aren’t necessarily your thing.

Not only will Cannibal Holocaust finally be getting its due in high definition this week, but Scream Factory is also bringing us The Final Terror and Sony is releasing the stellar indie horror flick Afflicted to DVD and Blu-ray as well. And if you’re a horror geek who can’t get enough of Echo Bridges’ multi-title releases, well then you’ll want to check out a few more of their collections which will be arriving this week too. Also, for those of you Twilight Zone fans out there, Image Entertainment has put together a great collection of the series’ most beloved episodes for you to enjoy in honor of the upcoming 55th anniversary of the show.

SPOTLIGHT TITLES:

Afflicted (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Blu-ray & DVD)

This terrifying horror thriller follows two best friends who set out on the trip of a lifetime around the world. Their journey, documented every step of the way, soon takes a dark and unexpected turn after an encounter with a beautiful woman in Paris leaves one of them mysteriously afflicted. Winner: Best Picture (Horror), Best Screenplay (Horror), Best Director (Horror) at Fantastic Fest, and recipient of awards of recognition from the Toronto International Film Festival and the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival. AFFLICTED is one of the most suspenseful and original action horror debuts in a generation.

Cannibal Holocaust (Grindhouse Releasing, Blu-ray/CD Combo)

THE ONE THAT GOES ALL THE WAY! Banned and heavily censored the world over, here is a film that surpasses its reputation as a shot-gun blast to the senses. CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST presents the "found footage" of a group of four documentary filmmakers who experience brutal death at the hands of a savage South American tribe of flesh-eaters. This footage is so intense, so graphic and so unflinching in its realism that the director and producer of CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST were arrested upon its original release and the film seized. Nothing you have seen before will prepare you for this uncompromising masterpiece of cinematic nihilism. Grindhouse Releasing proudly presents the definitive release of the most controversial movie ever made!

The Final Terror (Scream Factory, Blu-ray/DVD Combo)

A group of young campers out for what they hope will be a fun-filled weekend find their plans spoiled by a disguised, merciless killer who stalks the forest in search of new victims. Soon they are caught in a terrifying web of bloodshed and murder. It is up to the remaining few to defend themselves and put an end to the terror-filled weekend.

Featuring a great cast including Rachel Ward (The Thornbirds), Daryl Hannah (Kill Bill, Blade Runner), Adrian Zmed (Bachelor Party), Mark Metcalf (Zero Dark Thirty), Lewis Smith (Django Unchained) and Joe Pantoliano (The Matrix, The Fugitive) and directed by Andrew Davis (The Fugitive, Under Siege) this pulse-pounding film is the final word in backwoods horror.
