One day after it was reported that Trevante Rhodes will co-star in The Predator, it has now been revealed that Keegan-Michael Key could also be joining the cast of the anticipated action horror film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Keegan-Michael Key is in "final negotiations" to play a key role in The Predator. If the deal should be finalized, Key would portray a man who helps the ex-Marine characters (played by Rhodes and Boyd Holbrook) fight off "the creatures" (implying that there will be more than one Predator on hand).

In addition to Rhodes and Holbrook, The Predator cast also includes Olivia Munn as a scientist. The setting for the film is rumored to be the suburbs, which would make an unconventional battlefield for some of the galaxy's most lethal hunters.

Filming is slated to begin this winter on The Predator, which is scheduled for a February 9th, 2018 theatrical release from 20th Century Fox. Shane Black (who co-starred as the wisecracking Rick Hawkins in the original Predator) will direct The Predator from a screenplay he co-wrote with Fred Dekker (who helmed Night of the Creeps and The Monster Squad—the latter being a film he also co-wrote with Black).

The Predator is expected to reboot the franchise while also serving as somewhat of a sequel. Although there has been speculation, it's unclear at this time whether or not Arnold Schwarzenegger will reprise his role as Dutch from 1987's Predator.

Key is perhaps best known for co-creating and co-starring in Comedy Central's Key & Peele with Jordan Peele (who made his directorial debut with the upcoming horror film Get Out). Stay tuned to Daily Dead for more details on The Predator as they are revealed.
