He traveled to Skull Island to take on massive monsters in Peter Jackson's King Kong, and now Kyle Chandler is set to encounter another colossal creature in the Godzilla sequel.

Variety reports that Chandler is set to play the father of Millie Bobby Brown's character in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, the upcoming sequel to Gareth Edward's 2014 film, Godzilla.

No other character details are known at this time. Back in January, Brown (who plays Eleven in Stranger Things) was the first cast member announced for the Godzilla sequel that will be directed by Michael Dougherty (Trick ’r Treat and Krampus) from a screenplay he is writing with Zach Shields.

A Legendary film, Godzilla: King of the Monsters is slated for a March 22nd, 2019 release from Warner Bros. The Godzilla sequel and the upcoming King Kong movie, Kong: Skull Island, share the same cinematic universe, and the two monsters are slated to shake the big screen when Godzilla vs. Kong hits theaters on May 29th, 2020.

Many viewers know Chandler as Coach Taylor from Friday Night Lights and John Rayburn from Bloodline. As mentioned above, Chandler also played Bruce Baxter in 2005's King Kong,  Deputy Jackson Lamb in Super 8, and Joe Chandler in the recent Manchester by the Sea.
