He broke into the horror scene with his chilling 2008 writing and directing debut, The Strangers. With that first film, Bryan Bertino gave horror fans an unnerving home invasion thriller that would not be soon forgotten. Fans of The Strangers have been waiting years for Bertino's sophomore effort. While his found footage film Mockingbird is completed, it has yet to be released. Thankfully, the writer/director of The Strangers has another film in the works, titled There Are Monsters, and an actress has now signed on to play the lead.

According to ScreenDaily, actress Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men and Top of the Lake) has signed on to play the lead in Bryan Bertino's third film, There Are Monsters, which he will write and direct. Pre-production is set for this fall. As the synopsis suggests, the film's straightforward title can be taken to heart:

"Bertino’s script follows a single mum and her terrified young daughter who are trapped and tormented by a mysterious creature."

We'll keep Daily Dead readers updated on further casting news and release details as they develop.
