Rob Zombie announced another addition to the cast of The Lord of Salem this weekend and a recent report reveals that an actress who regularly cast in Rob Zombie films will be making a return.

First up is news straight from Rob Zombie that Bruce Dern has joined the cast as the author of a book about the Salem witch trials: "Here's some really exciting casting news! I am fucking thrilled to announce that Academy Award nominated actor BRUCE DERN has joined the ever growing cast of THE LORDS OF SALEM. Bruce is taking on the role of FRANCIS MATTHIAS author of the book 'SATAN'S LAST STAND - The Truth About The Salem Witch Trials.' Francis may know a little too much about witches for his own good."

And the other bit of casting news comes from Bloody Disgusting, who is reporting that Sheri Moon Zombie will have a role in The Lords of Salem as well. At this time, her role in the film has not been revealed, but we should have more details on her character in the near future. She has appeared in every Rob Zombie film to date, so this bit of casting news does not come as a surprise.

Bruce Dern and Sheri Moon Zombie join previously announced cast members Trosten Voges, Ernest Thomas, Meg Foster, and Jeff Daniel Phillips. The movie is expected to begin shooting in in Salem, Massachusetts later this month and involves a vinyl record that summons The Lords of Salem:

“Heidi, a blonde rock chick, DJs as a local radio station, and together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster) forms part of the ‘Big H Radio Team’.

A myserious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, ’a gift from the Lords’. She assumes it’s a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords’ record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma.

Later, Whitey plays the Lords’ record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with listeners.

The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon Heidi and her cohorts find that the gig is far from the rock spectacle they’re expecting: the original Lords of Salem are returning, and they’re out for BLOOD.”
