After writing and directing two films featuring the haunt of Haddonfield, Michael Myers, Rob Zombie is returning to October 31st with an original film titled 31. After the first one was revealed about two weeks ago, another piece of concept art for 31 has been unveiled by Zombie that gives more insight into the mysterious movie, with the filmmaker promising big updates later this week.

As with the first production sketch, this second piece was revealed by Rob Zombie via Facebook and was drawn by artist Alex Horley. The sketch depicts a woman fleeing from a monstrous masked man wearing coveralls with a skull and crossbones emblem on the front. With the film taking place on Halloween night, it's likely that both characters are dressed for the occasion, linking it to the first concept art image that showed three figures clad in skeleton costumes in front of a 1970's-styled van with a skull-faced lightning bolt emblazoned on the side. Rob Zombie has promised big news on his next film to be revealed this Thursday, July 31st, and we'll keep Daily Dead readers updated on that news as soon as we hear it. Here’s what the writer/director had to say about 31 in a recent interview:

On the title of 31, whether it’s a prequel, and when shooting will begin:

31, yeah, because it takes place on October 31st.

No, it’s totally different. All I can tell you is that it’s a completely original idea, it’s something new. It’s not based on anything. I’ll start shooting the movie in the fall. So hopefully starting from October, I’ll start shooting it. For right now, I’m going to keep the details secret. But it’s not based on anything.”
