An evil ventriloquist dummy who's brought to life when the magic words are spoken, Slappy appeared in the Night of the Living Dummy saga of the original Goosebumps series, becoming one of the most well-recognized and creepy villains to readers of R. L. Stine's books. Now that a Goosebumps movie is filming, those same readers are eager to learn what monsters will be featured in the movie, and should be pleased with the new film stills.

In these first few images, we get another look at Jack Black as R. L. Stine, but we also get to see creatures other than the zombies shown in previously unveiled photos. Slappy the Dummy is shown looking very similar to how he was portrayed on the Goosebumps covers, with his black hair, wide eyes, and red bow tie. He's behind the wheel of a car, which could make for one wild ride. Another image features a trio of antagonists, including a vampire.

For those who missed the announcement, Columbia Pictures will have a Goosebumps movie panel at the Hilton Bayfront’s Indigo Ballroom on Thursday, July 24th from 12:30pm – 1:30pm with director Rob Letterman and the actor who will portray R. L. Stine: Jack Black. The two panelists, having previously collaborated on Shark Tale and Gulliver’s Travels, will reveal clips of the monster-making process.

We will be covering the San Diego Comic-Con live for the entire event, so be sure to check back frequently for the latest updates on the Goosebumps movie and other breaking news related to your favorite movies and TV shows.

Originally slated for a 2016 release, we recently reported that Goosebumps will now be released on August 7th, 2015. The cast includes Jack Black, Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, Timothy Simons, Amanda Lund, Amy Ryan, Jillian Bell, Ryan Lee, and Ken Marino.

In Goosebumps, upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets the beautiful girl, Hannah (Odeya Rush), living right next door. But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach’s comes when he learns that Hannah has a mysterious dad who is revealed to be R. L. Stine (Jack Black), the author of the bestselling Goosebumps series. It turns out that there is a reason why Stine is so strange… he is a prisoner of his own imagination – the monsters that his books made famous are real, and Stine protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books. When Zach unintentionally unleashes the monsters from their manuscripts and they begin to terrorize the town, it’s suddenly up to Stine, Zach, and Hannah to get all of them back in the books where they belong.

Rob Letterman directs the film from a screenplay by Darren Lemke and Mike White, and a story by Scott Alexander, Larry Karaszewski, and Darren Lemke, based on the Goosebumps book series written by R. L. Stine. The producers are Neal H. Moritz and Deborah Forte, with Bill Bannerman and Tania Landau as Executive Producers.

Below we have the new images from the Goosebumps film, as well as the first two photos from the movie (thanks to Collider!):
