“I’ll be back.” Arnold Schwarzenegger’s cyborg warrior will make good on that promise next summer when Paramount unleashes Terminator: Genisys to theaters. New takes on familiar characters like Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese will be featured in the film, with Arnold once again playing a durable T-800. Ahead of the movie's trailer debut this Thursday, a new face-dissolving motion poster has been released.

Released on TerminatorMovie.com, the motion poster (see below) features a Terminator endoskeleton's head dissolving into what could be the sands of time. Stay tuned to Daily Dead for the release of the first Terminator: Genisys trailer on Thursday. In the meantime, we have the official plot details of the new Terminator film from the cover story that appeared in an earlier issue of EW:

“Sarah Connor isn’t the innocent she was when Linda Hamilton first sported feathered hair and acid-washed jeans in the role. Nor is she Hamilton’s steely zero body-fat warrior in 1991’s T2. Rather, the mother of humanity’s messiah was orphaned by a Terminator at age 9. Since then, she’s been raised by (brace yourself) Schwarzenegger’s Terminator—an older T-800 she calls “Pops”—who is programmed to guard rather than to kill. As a result, Sarah is a highly trained antisocial recluse who’s great with a sniper rifle but not so skilled at the nuances of human emotion.”

Terminator: Genisys hits theaters on July 1st, 2015 and is directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World, Game of Thrones). Terminator 2 is due out on May 19th, 2017, and Terminator 3 is slated for release on June 29th, 2018, and the plan is for both reboot sequels to film back-to-back. If you missed it, check out our previous Terminator: Genisys coverage:

“The new film is written by Laeta Kalogridis (“AVATAR,” “SHUTTER ISLAND”) and Patrick Lussier (“DRIVE ANGRY”). David Ellison and Dana Goldberg (“WORLD WAR Z,” “STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS”) of Skydance Productions are producing. Executive producers are Skydance’s Paul Schwake (“WORLD WAR Z,” “STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS”), Annapurna Pictures’ Megan Ellison (“AMERICAN HUSTLE,” “HER”), Kalogridis and Lussier.

“TERMINATOR” stars Arnold Schwarzenegger (“THE EXPENDABLES 1 & 2,” “TERMINATOR 1, 2 & 3”), Jason Clarke (“THE GREAT GATSBY,” “ZERO DARK THIRTY”), Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”), Jai Courtney (“DIVERGENT,” “JACK REACHER”), J.K. Simmons (“MEN, WOMEN & CHILDREN,” “UP IN THE AIR”), Dayo Okeniyi (“THE HUNGER GAMES,” “THE SPECTACULAR NOW”), and Byung Hun Lee (“RED 2,” “G.I. JOE: RETALIATION”).

The “TERMINATOR” franchise launched in 1984 with Schwarzenegger as the title character and spanned three subsequent films, which have earned more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

Paramount will distribute the film worldwide on July 1, 2015.”
