While many eyes are peeled for the arrival of Negan in The Walking Dead Season 6's second half, executive producer (and comic book series creator) Robert Kirkman recently teased the upcoming appearance of another anticipated character: Paul "Jesus" Monroe.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Kirkman briefly discussed how Jesus (played by Tom Payne) will fit into a world of skilled and sometimes dangerous survivors:

“...the people you encounter in your day-to-day life have to be extremely skilled. And they’ve been surviving for a reason, whether they were at a place like Alexandria that’s very safe, or they’re a great leader of their group and somewhat sadistic but in control of their group like Negan, or someone who’s an absolute, complete badass like Jesus.”

Kirkman went on to talk about Jesus' skills in more detail:

"He’s smart, quick, very athletic. He’s kinda been surviving on his feet. He’s going to be bringing a lot to the show. There’s some cool stuff coming with him.”

For those unfamiliar with the comic book series, Jesus is revered by readers for many reasons [spoilers ahead]. First appearing in issue #91 (see Charlie Adlard's artwork below), Jesus is a talented fighter and resourceful survivor who hearkens from the Hilltop Colony. His friendly nature, acrobatic skills, and strong moral compass help maintain relationships between his home and other communities.

The Walking Dead Season 6's second half premieres on February 14th. Stay tuned to Daily Dead for more updates, and to read the full article on EW, visit:
