The world of The Walking Dead is getting the stop-motion animation treatment, as Adult Swim has announced Robot Chicken: The Walking Dead Special.

The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and showrunner Scott M. Gimple will collaborate with Robot Chicken's Seth Green and Matthew Senreich for the half-hour special, which is expected to premiere sometime this year.

Voice casting details have yet to be announced, but based on previous episodes of Robot Chicken, it seems likely that at least a few cast members of The Walking Dead would voice their characters. Stay tuned to Daily Dead for more details, and we have official details below:

From the Press Release: "In keeping with the tradition of working with major franchises such as Star Wars and the DC Comics universe, the Emmy®-winning team behind Robot Chicken joins forces with the creators of The Walking Dead to bring fans an all new and extra bloody half-hour special. Robot Chicken creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich and their Stoopid Buddy Stoodios partners, John Harvatine IV and Eric Towner, will bring an animated zombie apocalypse to Adult Swim with The Walking Dead's creator/executive producer Robert Kirkman and showrunner/executive producer/writer Scott M. Gimple."
