In our latest horror/sci-fi round-up, we have details on two upcoming Jeremy Renner movies, a look at the Hannibal Season 3 poster recently posted by showrunner Bryan Fuller, details on Colin Trevorrow's next film after Jurassic World, and an update on the high school horror film, Lockdown (formerly known as Lockdown at Franklin High).

Captain America: Civil War & Story of Your Life: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jeremy Renner will appear as Hawkeye in Captain America: Civil War. The plot's inclusion of the Superhero Registration Act means we should see a large number of superheroes in the sequel, with Chadwick Boseman's first appearance as Black Panther confirmed and Spider-Man's involvement likely. Captain America: Civil War will also star Chris Evans (Captain America), Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), and Daniel Brühl in a role that's unknown at this time (though he's expected to play a key villain).

Captain America: Civil War is scheduled to begin production this spring and is set for a May 6th, 2016 release. Brothers Anthony and Joe Russo return to helm the third film off a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (both of whom scribed the first two Captain America movies and Thor: The Dark World).

The third installment in the super soldier franchise will be influenced to some extent by the Civil War comic book mini-series that was released in 2006 – 2007, though Marvel is rebooting the Civil War storyline on the paneled page this summer and the movie could follow that version more closely. In the original version, Iron Man and Captain America take opposite stances on the government’s Superhero Registration Act, leading to confrontations of both the physical and verbal variety amongst Earth’s superheroes.

THR also reveals that Renner will also co-star in Story of Your Life, a sci-fi drama from Paramount that stars Amy Adams and will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, who was recently announced as the director of the Blade Runner sequel. Story of Your Life is based on a short story by Ted Chiang, and will see Earth receive visitors from above, as "alien crafts land around the world, and an expert linguist, to be played by Adams, is recruited by the military to determine whether they come in peace or are a threat. As she learns to communicate with the aliens, she begins experiencing vivid flashbacks that become the key to unlocking the greater mystery about the true purpose of their visit."

Renner will portray "a physics professor paired by the government with the linguist to help communicate with the aliens." Villeneuve will direct off a screenplay by Eric Heisserer.

Hannibal Season 3: A new poster (see below) for Hannibal Season 3 was tweeted yesterday by showrunner Bryan Fuller that features Dr. Bedelia du Maurier (Gillian Anderson) standing in what is likely a street in Florence, Italy. Anderson was bumped up to a series regular for the third season, so we should be seeing a lot more of Dr. Bedelia du Maurier and her intriguing relationship with Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen). Similar to Thomas Harris' 1999 novel, Hannibal, and the 2001 film of the same name, season three of Hannibal is expected to at least partly take place in Florence, Italy, where Lecter is in hiding while still whetting his unique appetite. NBC's Hannibal Season 3 will premiere on Thursday, June 4th, at 10:00pm EST.

In addition to Anderson and Mikkelsen, the cast for season three (which contains a bit of a time jump) includes Hugh Dancy as Will Graham, Glenn Fleshler as Cordell Doemling, Joe Anderson in place of Michael Pitt as Mason Verger, Tara Mae Thornton in the recurring role of Reba McClane, Richard Armitage as Francis Dolarhyde, aka The Tooth Fairy serial killer, and Nina Arianda as Mary Graham, Will's wife. It was also recently revealed that Zachary Quinto will guest star in at least one episode as one of Dr. Bedelia du Maurier's patients.

Intelligent Life: According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Colin Trevorrow's next film after Jurassic World will be the sci-fi thriller, Intelligent Life. DreamWorks has acquired Intelligent Life, which features a script co-penned by Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, both of whom wrote Jurassic World and the 2012 time traveling drama, Safety Not Guaranteed.

Official plot details have not yet surfaced, but it's been revealed that Intelligent Life stems from The Ambassador, a prior project of Trevorrow and Connolly's that follows a "U.N. worker in a department that was to represent humankind in the event of alien contact. The man falls in love with a mysterious woman who turns out to be an alien." Steven Spielberg will executive produce the project. No casting or production dates are known at this time.

Lockdown: TheWrap reports that Andrew Deutschman and Jason Pagan, the duo that penned the screenplays for Project Almanac and the upcoming Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension (due out on October 23rd), will now rewrite Lockdown for Sony Pictures, Platinum Dunes and Benderspink. Formerly referred to as Lockdown at Franklin High, the film "follows a straight-edge teen girl and her rebellious outcast brother as they try to escape from their high school, which is under lockdown due to the threat of a ravenous monster that has been attacking students."

The original draft for Lockdown was written by Gregg Bishop and Joe Ballarini, who previously teamed up for the fun and frightening high school-set zombie film, Dance of the Dead (2008).
