Ever wanted to trade in your car for Han Solo's ride? Though it's not a new model and doesn't exactly fit in with the glamrous side of George Lucas' galaxy that's far, far away, the Millennium Falcon is still one of the most desired spacecrafts among Star Wars fans and has been assembled here on Earth in countless physical models and CGI depictions. But despite not being the latest and greatest from a long time ago, the cost of building the Millennium Falcon is steeper than you might think, as shown in NeoMam Studios' new infographic. Also included in our sci-fi round-up are details on Bryan Singer taking on a big screen adaptation of The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress, one of Robert A. Heinlein's most beloved and thought-provoking novels, as well as news on who will write the screenplay adaptation of the yet-to-be-released dystopian YA thriller, Stone Rider, which is described as a cross between The Hunger Games, The Road, and Mad Max.

Star Wars Infographic: Following their delightful infographic that examined the cost of making a real Dalek from Doctor Who, the fine folks at NeoMam Studios are back with another cost inquiring infographic, this time teaming up with Disney and Lucasfilm to uncover the price you'd have to pay to build your very own Millennium Falcon. The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress: They had a choice: revolt or face cannibalism in nine years. They chose the former. Led by Mike, a brilliant self-aware computer, the residents of the moon (descendants of outcasts) liberate themselves from the iron grip of Earth in Robert A. Heinlein's phenomenal novel, The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress, winner of the 1967 Hugo award for best science fiction novel. Intricate task though it may be, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that 20th Century Fox is moving forward on a movie adaptation of Heinlein's novel, and they've set Bryan Singer to helm the film off a screenplay by Marc Guggenheim (Arrow TV series). The adaptation is currently titled Uprising.

This will be the third attempted adaptation by a studio, the previous two coming from DreamWorks and Phoenix Pictures. Stay tuned to Daily Dead for more details. For those unfamiliar with the novel, here's the synopsis:

"It is the year 2076, and the Moon is a penal colony for the rebellious and the unwanted of Earth. The exiles have created a libertarian society in order to survive in their harsh and unforgiving environment, their motto being TANSTAAFL: "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch". Looming over them is the Luna Authority, the heavy-handed Earth administration, who trades life necessities to the "Loonies" in exchange for grain shipments to the starving populations of Earth.

As the situation steadily deteriorates the inhabitants of Luna come to realize that they have little choice but to revolt against Luna Authority in order to save themselves from resource exhaustion and a subsequent environmental apocalypse.

A small band of dissidents emerges to lead the revolution. This consists of a one-armed computer jock, a radical young woman, a past-his-prime academic, and a nearly omnipotent computer named Mike. These people ignite the fires of revolution, despite the near certainty of failure."

Stone Rider: Deadline reports that writer/executive producer Dave Andron (FX's Justified) has been set to pen the big screen adaptation of Stone Rider for Working Title. The novel, slated for publication this July by Penguin Books, is a dystopian young adult thriller written by David Hofmeyr. Additionally, Andron's pilot sci-fi spec script, The Runner, has been picked up by Disney and will become a feature film directed by Marc Forster, with Image Entertainment producing. Here's the synopsis for Hofmeyr's Stone Rider:

"The Hunger Games meets The Road in a stunning debut novel from a powerful new voice in YA fiction.

Adam Stone wants freedom and peace.

He wants a chance to escape Blackwater, the dust-bowl desert town he grew up in. Most of all, he wants the beautiful Sadie Blood.

Alongside Sadie and the dangerous outsider, Kane, Adam will ride the Blackwater Trail in a brutal race that will test them all, body and soul. Only the strongest will survive.

The prize? A one-way ticket to Sky-Base and unimaginable luxury.

And for a chance at this new life, Adam will risk everything . . ."
