It Follows' Maika Monroe will go from evading supernatural entities to dodging vengeful aliens. Also included in our latest round-up are two new promo teasers for The Strain Season 2 and details on 20th Century Fox releasing new videos for Poltergeist via the "My Idol" app.

Independence Day 2: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Maika Monroe (It Follows, The Guest) will play a lead role in Roland Emmerich's Independence Day 2. She could be playing Patricia Whitmore, the daughter of Thomas J. Whitmore (the President of the United States in 1996's Independence Day), a role originally played by Mae Whitman.

Monroe joins a cast that includes Liam Hemsworth (whose character is set to have a romantic relationship with Monroe's character), Charlotte Gainsbourg and Jessie Usher, as well as Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman and Judd Hirsch reprising their roles from the first film.

Independence Day 2 is slated to hit theaters from 20th Century Fox on June 24th, 2016. Roland Emmerich, the director of the original Independence Day, will direct off a script by James Vanderbilt and Carter Blanchard (who was hired for rewrites). Dean Devlin and Harald Kloser are producing the project alongside Emmerich.

The Strain Season 2: The sophomore season of FX's The Strain premieres this summer, and the strigoi that roam New York City's streets are teased in new promo videos:

"The Strain is a high concept thriller that tells the story of “Dr. Ephraim Goodweather,” the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself."

Poltergeist Videos: Ahead of the Poltergeist remake's May 22nd release, 20th Century Fox is releasing new videos of the movie's creepy clown via the film's Facebook page and Snapchat account, using the "My Idol" app:
