Another American Horror Story alumnus has checked into the upcoming season of FX's enduring horror anthology series, a Suspiria-inspired TV series is in the works, and Dane DeHaan and Mia Goth will play the lead roles in A Cure for Wellness, Gore Verbinsk's return to horror.

American Horror Story: Hotel: Showrunner Ryan Murphy revealed via Twitter today that Kathy Bates will be "running the Hotel" in FX's American Horror Story: Hotel, the fifth chapter of the horror anthology series. Bates is no stranger to Murphy's show, having played Marie Delphine LaLaurie in American Horror Story: Coven and Ethel Darling in American Horror Story: Freak Show.

Bates joins a cast that includes Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Cheyenne Jackson, Wes Bentley, and Chloë Sevigny. American Horror Story: Hotel is expected to debut this fall, and it will be the first season without the phenomenal Jessica Lange in the cast.

Suspiria-Inspired TV Series: ScreenDaily reports that a TV series inspired by both Thomas De Quincey’s Suspiria de Profundis and Dario Argento's 1977 horror film, Suspiria, is moving forward as a collaboration between France's Atlantique Productions and Italy's Cattleya. The series, titled Suspiria De Profundis, centers on the author De Quincey and is slated for a 12-episode first season comprising fifty minute episodes, with plans in place for future seasons. Argento himself is set to be the show's artistic supervisor. Here's the synopsis, which seems like a far cry from Argento's film:

"Suspiria De Profundis will be an English-language period horror series in which the author De Quincey is the lead character. Styled as a new Sherlock Holmes, the story will explore psychological fantasies of evil and attempt to solve fearful mysteries. It will be set in London and Rome at the turn of the 20th century."

A Cure for Wellness: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gore Verbinski's (The Ring remake, Rango, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) supernatural horror film, A Cure for Wellness, will star Dane DeHaan (Life After Beth, Chronicle) and Mia Goth (The Survivalist).

Justin Haythe is scribing the film, which "tells the story of an employee (DeHaan) who is sent to rescue his boss from a European “wellness spa” but soon realizes he's trapped, and discovers that the facility has a more sinister purpose than just serving the health needs of its patients. Goth, who is in negotiations for the role, will play a longtime patient who is oblivious to the spa director's dark designs for her."
