The vampire sub-genre can be as dark and foreboding as the basement of a Transylvanian castle, but that doesn't mean it can't be navigated with a well-lit lantern of laughs. Today, the folks at Scream Factory ushered in October with the announcement that they are bringing the vampire comedies Love at First Bite and Once Bitten to Blu-ray for the first time.

Scream Factory plans to release 1979's Love at First Bite and 1985's Once Bitten to Blu-ray sometime around Valentine's Day 2015, so take note if you're already looking for date night movies. Extras have yet to be revealed, but based on their solid track record, Scream Factory is likely cooking up some bonus goodies in the cauldron.

Love at First Bite stars George Hamilton as a bride-seeking Count Vladimir Dracula wandering the New York City streets after being kicked out of his Transylvanian abode. Once Bitten features Jim Carrey as a virgin targeted by a seductive vampire Countess played by Lauren Hutton. We'll keep Daily Dead readers informed on further news regarding these releases. In the meantime, here's the official announcement from Scream Factory:

"Good morning everyone. We start our month-long "Shocktober" celebration with a new title announcement (one of several this month). Actually, we have TWO films to reveal today that will be in a double-feature: The horror comedies LOVE AT FIRST BITE (with George Hamilton) and ONCE BITTEN (with Jim Carrey)! This is the first time on the Blu-ray format for both films and is expected to land near Valentine's Day 2015. No details on extras at this time.

Re: LOVE AT FIRST BITE - We are aware that prior DVD versions of the film were altered, specifically during a key moment in a disco in which the song "I Love the Nightlife" song (sung by Alicia Bridges) was replaced by another track. We are doing our best to correct this and will keep you posted on the progress.

Stay tuned this month for many more surprises!"
