If you see him, it's probably too late. Referred to as Mr. Boogie, or Bughuul, the pagan deity in 2012's Sinister has a history of haunting and destroying families, as well as consuming children's souls, making him a truly twisted version of the boogeyman. It was recently announced that Ciaran Foy (Citadel) would direct Sinister 2 and that the film would begin shooting in August, and now Focus Features has slated the sequel for a summer 2015 release.

Deadline reports that Sinister 2 will hit theaters on August 21st, 2015. Scott Derrickson, the director of the 2012 original that starred Ethan Hawke, is writing the screenplay with C. Robert Cargill. The duo also scripted the first film, which stayed true to efficient Blumhouse Productions form by hauling in more than $87 million on a $3 million budget. Producing the sequel are Derrickson and Jason Blum.

Here's what Scott Derrickson had to say about Sinister 2 in our recent interview:

"It’s going to start shooting in August. I wrote the script with [C. Robert] Cargill, and I’m really proud of it. It was hard to write, because I want it to really have the quality level of the first movie, but not be a predictable sequel. Both of us were pretty dedicated to writing a horror sequel that’s fresh and unexpected, but didn’t stray so far from the first. It was a laborious process, but we did it. I’m producing the movie and we have a great director, so I’m feeling very positive about it."

There are no plot details at this time, but we’ll keep Daily Dead readers posted on any developments. For those that didn’t see the original movie, it starred Ethan Hawke as a crime novelist who makes a horrifying discovery in his new home:

A true crime novelist struggling to find his next big story moves his family into a house where the horrific murder of an entire family took place. But after finding a box of home videos in which other families are also brutally murdered, his investigation leads him to a supernatural entity that may be placing his own family in harm’s way.
