Though it doesn't arrive in theaters until late next year, J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens can be glimpsed via its first official teaser trailer that will be shown beginning this weekend at 30 select theaters across the United States. The 88-second trailer will play before all showtimes of all films in the chosen theaters, briefly returning viewers to a galaxy far, far away.

The first official teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will play at 30 lucky theaters beginning this Friday morning, so if you were planning on hitting the cinema with the family this Thanksgiving weekend, you just might get a look at the long-awaited next chapter in the epic space saga. And if you can't make it to one of the select cinemas this weekend, no worries: the teaser trailer will be shown in theaters worldwide next month. From Disney and Lucasfilm, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will come out in theaters on December 18th, 2015. The film stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow, all of whom join Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker from the original saga.

J.J. Abrams directs off a screenplay he wrote with Lawrence Kasdan. Kathleen Kennedy, Abrams, and Bryan Burk produce the project, with John Williams once again on the conductor’s podium.
