Scott Staley worked on the 110th floor of the World Trade Center, but impulsively didn't come into the office on September 11th, 2001. Consumed by survivor's guilt, Scott starts to find his late co-workers' belongings in his apartment. Stephen King's short story, The Things They Left Behind, centers on this mystery born out of tragedy, and CBS has picked up a project based on the written work.

Billed as a "supernatural procedural drama", Deadline reports that CBS recently purchased The Things They Left Behind from Seth Grahame-Smith and Greg Berlanti. CBS has ordered a put pilot for the project, meaning there will be financial penalties if the potential show is dropped. The project was penned by Seth Grahame-Smith and is based on King's short story. Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Prods. are producing.

According to Deadline, the show "centers on an unlikely pair of investigators carrying out the unfinished business of the dead", so don't expect an exact replication of King's story, which was originally published in 2006's multi-author Transgressions: Volume Two before being printed in his 2008 short story collection, Just After Sunset. We'll keep Daily Dead readers updated on further details concerning this project when they surface.
