It has just been announced that the South by Southwest Film Conference and Festival will host the world premiere of Evil Dead. A specific date and time for the screening has not yet been revealed, but SXSW takes place from March 8th - 17th, so it will obviously screen during that time frame.

SXSW is held in Austin, Texas and is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Although their website is currently down due to a traffic spike from visitors putting together their film schedules, you can learn more at: http://sxsw.com/

Everyone not attending SXSW will be able to see Evil Dead when it is released to theaters on April 12th. The movie was directed by Fede Alvarez and sees a new cast of characters discovering the Book of the Dead:

“Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

A core cast of young, fresh talent includes Jane Levy (Suburgatory) as Mia; Shiloh Fernandez (Deadgirl, Red Riding Hood) as David; Lou Taylor Pucci (Carriers) as Eric; Jessica Lucas (Cloverfield) as Olivia and Elizabeth Blackmore (Legend of the Seeker) as Natalie.”
