Earlier this month, we told you that Synapse Films would be releasing a Blu-ray version of Lamberto Bava's Demons, and it's now being reported that they're also working on new Blu-ray versions of Demons 2, along with Dario Argento's Tenebre and Phenomena.

Don May Jr. of Synapse Films recently gave Fangoria an update on their upcoming Blu-ray/DVD titles:

“We’re getting better hi-def masters of TENEBRAE and PHENOMENA, and we’re fixing the timing and color errors that were in the previous Blu-rays of the DEMONS films. Right now, Calum Waddell and High Rising Productions are working on supplements for DEMONS and DEMONS 2. They’re putting together all kinds of stuff for us on those two, with the participation of Simon Boswell, Alan Jones, Federico Zampaglione and Roy Bava, and many more to be announced. We haven’t started on the TENEBRAE and PHENOMENA extras yet.”

Synapse is known for some high quality Blu-ray releases and we've been really happy with their recent Hammer offerings. As you can tell from the quote above, details are still being ironed out, but we'll post full release details and cover art as soon as they are available. For those of you who are not familiar with all of the titles, we've included some basic information on each title below:

Demons: “Horror erupts in a movie theater as the patrons of a film about Nostradamus begin to transform into slavering, bloodthirsty things from the depths of hell. Aren’t you glad you’re watching this at home? Gore-drenched effects and a great heavy metal score mark this shocker from producer Dario Argento, who co-scripted with director Lamberto Bava. Urbano Barberini, Natasha Hovey star.”

Demons 2: "The nightmare continues as writer-producer Dario Argento and director Lamberto Bava present this shocking sequel to their original thriller, Demons. The story continues as a birthday party in a high-security apartment building (with bullet-proof windows) is interrupted when the birthday girl is transformed into a vicious demon by watching a horror movie on TV. The evil spirits begin to prey on their neighbors. The remaining residents have no way of escaping the hungry demons and are forced to battle them in order to survive."

Tenebre: "Shortly after American mystery-thriller novelist Peter Neal arrives in Rome to promote his new book an attractive young woman is murdered by a razor-wielding maniac who stuffs pages of Neal's latest novel into the mouth of his victim before slashing her throat. So begins a bizarre series of horrific murders, the details of which strangely resemble the fictional murders in Neal's book. Baffled by the killings, the local police believe the author may hold the key to solving the case and turn to him for help. Circumstances change, however, when Neal himself begins to receive death threats from the killer."

Phenomena: "Brace yourself for an all-new look at one of the most wildly original films ever from writer/director Dario Argento, an insane epic of terror, wonder, and jaw-dropping carnage. Jennifer Connelly stars as an outcast student at a Swiss boarding school who discovers both her telepathic power to control insects and the gore-soaked trail of a razor-wielding killer. Can a kindly professor (Donald Pleasence of HALLOWEEN) now harness her ‘gift’ to stop the bloodbath of a psychopath? Daria Nicolodi (TENEBRE), Dalila Di Lazzaro (FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN) and Fiore Argento (DEMONS) co-star — along with a pounding soundtrack by Goblin, Bill Wyman, Iron Maiden and Motörhead — in the shocker that remains a favorite of Argento fans as well as one of the most brutally original horror thrillers of the ‘80s."
