He once was The Punisher, but even Frank Castle might have a tough time taking down a Yautja. Following the news that he will play a key role in the upcoming film adaptation of Stephen King's 1922, Thomas Jane is now reportedly setting his sights on Shane Black's The Predator.

According to THR, Jane (The Expanse) is in "final negotiations" to play a part in 20th Century Fox's The Predator. It's not yet know what role Jane would play in the film, which is expected to begin shooting in Vancouver this February, but we'll keep Daily Dead readers updated on further details as they are revealed.

Should he join the movie's ranks, Jane would join a cast that is slated to include Boyd Holbrook, Keegan-Michael Key, Trevante Rhodes, Sterling K. Brown, and Olivia Munn.

The Predator is scheduled for a February 9th, 2018 theatrical release from 20th Century Fox. Shane Black (who co-starred as the wisecracking Rick Hawkins in the original Predator) will direct The Predator from a screenplay he co-wrote with Fred Dekker (who helmed Night of the Creeps and The Monster Squad—the latter being a film he also co-wrote with Black).

The Predator is expected to reboot the franchise while also serving as somewhat of a sequel, with multiple Predators expected to appear in a "more domestic setting" (according to THR)than 1987's jungle-set Predator, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as Dutch (it's not known whether or not Schwarzenegger will reprise that role in the new movie).

Thomas Jane fought otherworldly creatures before in Frank Darabont's adaptation of Stephen King's The Mist. Would you be excited to see Jane gear up to take on galactic hunters in The Predator?
