Lara Croft is coming back to the big screen, and it's been revealed that Alicia Vikander will bring the latest version of the globe-trekking adventurer to life.
According to THR, Alicia Vikander has been cast in the leading role as Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider reboot that's moving forward at MGM, Warner Bros and GK Films. The announcement comes after a long search that included speculation that Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) would potentially play the part.
The Tomb Raider reboot is set to be directed by Roar Uthaug, who helmed the superbly paced disaster film The Wave and the 2006 horror film Cold Prey.
Specific plot details are mostly unknown at this time, but the reboot is expected to follow "a young and untested Croft fighting to survive her first adventure."
