Valentine "Val" McKee is looking to return to Perfection, as it's been revealed that a Tremors TV series is in the works with Kevin Bacon attached to executive produce and reprise his role as Valentine McKee from the 1990 film that kicked off the beloved franchise.

EW reports the news of the Tremors TV series, stating that a small screen reboot based on Ron Underwood's original film is being developed by Universal Cable Productions and Jason Blum's Blumhouse Productions. Bacon is set to executive produce and once again star as handyman turned Graboid fighter Val McKee.

The TV series will take place in Perfection, Nevada, and Andrew Miller (Backstrom, The Secret Circle, Boys and Girls) has been lined up to pen the franchise's new entry.

Although Tremors spawned four sequels and a 2003 Sci-Fi Channel TV series, Bacon hasn't stepped into Val's boots since he acted in the first film over 25 years ago.

Currently, the Tremors TV series does not have a network to call home. It's also not known what type of a timeline the show will take place in and who else will be involved in the series. Could we see the return of Fred Ward's Earl Basset, Reba McEntire's Heather Gummer, or Michael Gross' Burt Gummer? Only time will tell.

Gross recently reprised his role as survivalist Burt Gummer in Tremors 5: Bloodlines, which came out on home media in early October and injected the franchise with another shot of relevancy.

As previously mentioned, Tremors has been attempted as a TV series before, although its episodes airing out of order and too much behind-the-scenes tampering doomed its small screen longevity. With Bacon and Blum involved on this go-around, though, the skies above Perfection are looking crystal blue and free of storm clouds for the time being.

We'll keep Daily Dead readers updated on further Tremors TV series announcements. In the meantime, what do you think of Bacon coming back as Val on the small screen? Do you think a Tremors reboot is a good idea? For those unfamiliar with Tremors, here is the film's official synopsis and trailer:

"Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward star as two country handymen who lead a cast of zany characters to safety in this exciting sci-fi creature comedy. Just as Val McKee (Bacon) and Earl Bassett (Ward) decide to leave Perfection, Nevada, strange rumblings prevent their departure. With the help of a shapely seismology student (Finn Carter), they discover their desolate town is infested with gigantic man-eating creatures that live below the ground. The race is on to overcome these slimy subterraneans and find a way to higher ground, in this enjoyable thriller co-starring Michael Gross and Reba McEntire."
