What do a pyrokinetic girl, a lonely ghost, and a group of cannibalistic children have in common? They're all getting the Blu-ray treatment from Universal this September.

Blu-ray.com reports that Firestarter, Casper, and The People Under the Stairs are all slated for a September 2nd Blu-ray release, but only one of the films is coming with substantial bonus features:

Firestarter Release Details (via Blu-ray.com):

"Firestarter chronicles the extraordinary life of Charlene "Charlie" McGee. Eight-year-old Drew Barrymore stars as the child who has the amazing ability to start fires with just a glance. The Blu-ray edition of Firestarter is presented in 1080p with a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono track. An UltraViolet Digital HD digital copy of the film is included, but there are no other special features."

Casper Release Details (via Blu-ray.com):

"From director Brad Silberling and Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment comes a live-action fun house ride filled with laughter, excitement and ghostly surprises. "Ghost therapist" Dr. James Harvey (Bill Pullman) and his daughter Kat (Christina Ricci) arrive at drafty, old Whipstaff Manor. Its greedy owner, Carrigan Crittendon (Cathy Moriarty), has hired Dr. Harvey to exorcise the house's apparitions: a friendly but lonely young ghost named Casper, who's just looking for a friend, and his outrageous uncles Stretch, Stinkie and Fatso (The Ghostly Trio). If the plan works, she and Dibs (Eric Idle), her partner-in-slime, can get their hands on the manor's fabled treasure. Meanwhile, Casper has found a kindred spirit in Kat, but The Ghostly Trio will not tolerate "fleshies" in their house.

The Blu-ray edition of Casper is presented in 1080p with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround. Special features include:

  • Feature Commentary with Director Brian Silberling
  • Revealing Casper
  • "Penguin for Your Thoughts" Cartoon Classic
  • UltraViolet Digital Copy"

Directed by Brad Silberling, 1995's Casper stars Christina Ricci, Bill Pullman, Cathy Moriarty and Eric Idle, and features the voice talents of Malachi Pearson as Casper the Friendly Ghost, Joe Nipote, Joe Alaskey, and Brad Garrett.

The People Under the Stairs Release Details (via Blu-ray.com):

"In every neighborhood, there is one house that adults whisper about and children cross the street to avoid. Now, director Wes Craven (A Nightmare on Elm Street) takes you inside The People Under the Stairs. Trapped within a fortified home owned by a mysterious couple, a young boy is suddenly thrust into a nightmare he can't escape. The boy quickly learns the true nature of the house's homicidal inhabitants and the secret creatures hidden under the stairs.

The Blu-ray edition of The People Under the Stairs is presented in 1080p with a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track. No special features are included."
