Even before Scream 4 was released, there were rumors that it would be the first part in a new trilogy. After the movie was released, there was some talk about another sequel and possibly a TV series, but nothing materialized. Wes Craven gave an update on his involvement in another Scream movie, and fans of the franchise are probably in for a long wait.

Via Arrow in the Head: "So far I have not heard anything about SCREAM 5 from Bob Weinstein. There is some talk about a television series, but I don't think anything has moved forward on that yet. That's what I'm hearing more than anything else from the guys at Dimension. It would be them picking up the phone and asking me if I wanted to play with them, so..."

Last summer, it was reported that MTV was developing a TV series based on the Scream franchise, but Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven were not involved at the time and we haven't heard anything since. It seems like Wes Craven is definitely game for another Scream movie, but the Weinsteins have been very cautious about moving forward on big horror releases. They are in control of the Halloween and Hellraiser franchises, and it seemed like both would be getting new movies recently, but they appear to be in limbo now as well.
