"Some of our creatures have been misbehaving." Fans of writer/director Michael Crichton's Westworld may not have looked at amusement parks or their robot residents the same way after watching the 1973 film, and now a new generation of viewers can see what happens when artificial intelligence goes haywire, as HBO has put in a series order for a reimagining of Crichton’s directorial debut.

"A dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin", Westworld is a drama series comprised of one-hour episodes that will premiere on HBO in 2015. The show is executive produced, written, and directed by Jonathan Nolan (Person of Interest creator) and also written/executive produced by Lisa Joy.

Westworld stars Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Miranda Otto, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Angela Sarafyan, and Simon Quarterman.

Joining Nolan and Joy as executive producers are J.J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub, and Bryan Burk. Athena Wickham produces, with Kathy Lingg and Susie Ekins co-producing.

HBO revealed the first looks at the show via Twitter:

When he’s not writing about horror as the Senior News Reporter for Daily Dead, Derek can be found daydreaming about the Santa Carla Boardwalk from The Lost Boys or reading Stephen King and Brian Keene novels.
