Also: details on the Sleep Tight series premiere and Seraph Films' screenplay contest.

Don't Knock Twice Poster: Directed by Caradog James and starring Katee Sackhoff, Nick Moran, and Lucy Boynton, Don't Knock Twice made its U.K. premiere at the Raindance Film Festival, and it will be released in theaters early next year.

Synopsis: "For Jess, life has never been better. A successful American sculptor, she has recently returned to the UK, where she spent much of her troubled youth. Now happily married, wealthy and settled, all that remains to make her life complete is to rebuild her relationship with Chloe, the daughter she was forced to give up nine years ago. So when Chloe agrees to come and live with her, Jess is optimistic that she can make amends and be a good mother once more.

What Jess doesn’t know is that Chloe has not come to stay because she wants to get to know her mother again. She has come because she is scared that a supernatural curse has claimed the life of her boyfriend, Danny, and is now coming for her. Chloe and Danny made the mistake of revisiting an abandoned house, once home to ‘Ginger’, a mysterious old woman said by some to be a witch. Local legend says that if you knock on her door then the vengeful ghost of Ginger will snatch you away to her hellish limbo.

At first, Jess puts Chloe’s erratic behaviour down to the trauma of her past and the resentment she still feels for being abandoned. But soon Jess comes to realise that she is all that stands between her daughter and a formidable and terrifying supernatural force. Thrown into a battle for survival, Jess must learn the truth behind the legend of the witch and ultimately make the bravest sacrifice of all and knock on Ginger’s door herself..."

Seraph Films' Screenplay Contest Details: Press Release: "Seraph Films is thrilled to announce the launch of its inaugural short film screenplay contest, where the winner will have his/her script produced by the Seraph Films team, with a red carpet premiere at Seraph's Halloween Film Night in 2017.

Building on the community-focused model of Seraph Films' popular "Horror Haiku" web series, this competition offers all writers a chance to have their projects come to life. The competition is focused on horror and thriller projects, along the lines of Seraph's bevy of short films, which are largely available on their YouTube channel. Seraph's most recent web series "The Disappearance of Madison Bishop" also features a community approach to storytelling, and this contest marks the next step along that path.

Gene Blalock, director and founder of Seraph Films, says, "Seraph has always sought to involve the independent horror and thriller communities as much as possible, and this contest will enable us to do that more than ever before. Our hope is that this contest can jump-start a writer's career and give them something tangible to be proud of."

Submitted scripts will be assessed by Seraph's development team and then narrowed down into quarter-finalists, semi-finalists, and eventually finalists. Semi-finalists will all receive one or two paragraphs of story notes, and finalists will receive a phone or Skype consultation with the contest judges. Writers may enter the contest on Seraph's website or via FilmFreeway. Entries are open until January 31st, 2017.

About the Author - Tamika Jones

Tamika hails from North Beach, Maryland, a tiny town inches from the Chesapeake Bay.She knew she wanted to be an actor after reciting a soliloquy by Sojourner Truth in front of her entire fifth grade class. Since then, she's appeared in over 20 film and television projects. In addition to acting, Tamika is the Indie Spotlight manager for Daily Dead, where she brings readers news on independent horror projects every weekend.

The first horror film Tamika watched was Child's Play. Being eight years old at the time, she remembers being so scared when Chucky came to life that she projectile vomited. It's tough for her to choose only one movie as her favorite horror film, so she picked two: Nosferatu and The Stepford Wives (1975).
