It’s hard to believe it’s already been ten years since audiences were first introduced to the world of Jigsaw in James Wan’s debut feature film Saw which left an indelible mark on the horror genre and spawned one of the most successful franchises of the last several decades.

During a recent press day for the upcoming re-release of Saw in honor of its 10th anniversary, Daily Dead had the opportunity to sit down and chat with the two men who made it all possible- Wan and writer/co-star Leigh Whannell. Both Wan and Whannell discussed how their experiences working on Saw have continued to inform their respective careers and why they feel that the film’s message has continued to endure with fans over the years.

We also heard from the duo on how they managed to pull together such a high-caliber cast of talent for the original film based on Wan’s original 2003 short and how Saw fits into the other universes of several of the other movies they’ve collaborated on together over the years, including Insidious and Dead Silence.
