Camp friends for life... If you enjoyed spending time at Camp Stillwater, then you'll be saddened to hear that Freeform won't be moving forward with a second season of Dead of Summer.

THR reveals that Dead of Summer has been cancelled by Freeform. A horror series that pitted camp counselors against threats of both the supernatural and human variety, Dead of Summer was potentially slated to return in a second season that would have featured a "creative reboot," according to THR.

Dead of Summer premiered in June with 630,000 viewers and aired its season 1 finale to 410,000 viewers in late August, but it reportedly had a strong presence on digital platforms.

Created by Edward Kitsis, Adam Horowitz, and Ian Goldberg, Dead of Summer co-starred Elizabeth Mitchell as the head of Camp Stillwater. The show embraced its ties to the horror genre by featuring guest stars like Tony Todd (Candyman) and Andrew J. West (Gareth from The Walking Dead). Additionally, Mick Garris (The Stand miniseries) directed two episodes of the series, with Steve Miner (Friday the 13th Part II) stepping behind the camera for the season 1 finale.

For those who were unfamiliar with Dead of Summer, we have its official synopsis and list of cast members below. Will you miss the series?

"Set in the late 1980s, school is out for the summer, and a sun-drenched season of firsts beckons the counselors at Camp Stillwater, a seemingly idyllic Midwestern summer camp, including first loves, first kisses—and first kills. Stillwater’s dark, ancient mythology awakens, and what was supposed to be a summer of fun soon turns into one of unforgettable scares and evil at every turn.
