Universal may have struck out with Battleship, but Snow White and the Huntsman is off to a good start with $56 million. In second place is Men in Black 3 with $29.3 million and a total domestic gross of $112 million since opening.

The Avengers was the only other film on the list to earn over $20 million and is now 3rd on the list of unadjusted all-time domestic grosses, behind Titanic and Avatar. While the film could hang out in theaters long enough to pass Titanic's $658 million, it's hard to imagine The Avengers getting close enough to Avatar's $760 million.

Piranha 3DD opened in theaters this week, but as it only played in 86 theaters around the country, you may have missed it. The film earned $179,000 in theaters this weekend, but was also released on-demand at the same time. Next week's big genre release is Prometheus, and while we expect it to open big, we're not sure there are enough Alien fans to hold off Madagascar 3 from taking the top spot. Here are the top 10 results for this weekend:

1. Snow White and the Huntsman - $56,255,000
2. Men in Black 3 - $29,300,000
3. The Avengers - $20,273,000
4. Battleship - $4,810,000
5. The Dictator - $4,725,000
6. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel - $4,600,000
7. What to Expect When You’re Expecting - $4,430,000
8. Dark Shadows - $3,860,000
9. Chernobyl Diaries - $3,045,000
10. For Greater Glory - $1,800,000
