Sinister sisters with a thirst for blood, the brides of Dracula from Bram Stoker's classic 1897 novel are the subject of an in-development pilot at NBC.

According to Playbill, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (writer of the Afterlife with Archie comic book series and the forthcoming American Psycho musical) is working on the pilot for a new TV series called Brides. The show, which has received a pilot production commitment from NBC, will answer this question: "what if the brides of Dracula hadn't been staked and decapitated by Abraham Van Helsing?"

Set in modern-day New York City, Brides will follow the three vampire sisters through the lens of an unconventional family drama.

The brides of Dracula have been portrayed numerous times onscreen, including 1992's Bram Stoker's Dracula, 1931's Dracula, 1977's Count Dracula, 1973's Bram Stoker's Dracula, and 2004's Van Helsing (pictured above). Stay tuned to Daily Dead for more updates on the Brides TV series.
