The Evil Within Goes Gold, New Behind-the-Scenes Videos & PC Requirements Revealed

Just like the arachnid creature that stalks Detective Castellanos in his newfound nightmare world, the release date for The Evil Within creeps ever closer, and Bethesda's recent announcement that Shinji Mikami's latest survival horror offering has gone gold means the game's unnerving atmosphere will permeate five platforms without delay.

“While investigating the scene of a gruesome mass murder, Detective Sebastian Castellanos and his partners encounter a mysterious and powerful force. After seeing the slaughter of fellow officers, Sebastian is ambushed and knocked unconscious. When he awakens, he finds himself in a deranged world where hideous creatures wander among the dead. Facing unimaginable terror, and fighting for survival, Sebastian embarks on a frightening journey to unravel what’s behind this evil force.

Developed by Shinji Mikami and the talented team at Tango Gameworks, The Evil Within embodies the meaning of pure survival horror. Tango Gameworks and Bethesda Softworks will release The Evil Within on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The Evil Within hits shelves in North America, Europe, South Africa, India, and the Middle East on October 14th and is set to come out in Australia and New Zealand on October 16th and in Japan on October 23rd.

The Evil Within features a voice cast that includes Anson Mount (AMC’s Hell on Wheels), Jennifer Carpenter (Showtime’s Dexter), and Jackie Earle Haley (2010’s A Nightmare on Elm Street).

"On the heels of our Gone Gold announcement, we’ve put the final touches on the recommended PC requirements for The Evil Within. These specifications are listed as “recommended” as they are the settings we’ve determined ensure that your gameplay experience plays as intended by the development team.

Note: We do not have a list of minimum requirements for the game. If you’re trying to play with a rig with settings below these requirements (you should plan to have 4 GBs of VRAM regardless), we cannot guarantee optimal performance.
