The Fantasia Film Festival is taking place from July 18th to August 6th in Montreal and will feature over 100 genre films from around the world. We'll have Fantasia 2013 coverage over the next few week and wanted to share a list of films we're looking forward to with our readers, including the world premiere of Curse of Chucky:

"The Fantasia Film Festival is coming back, and coming soon. From July 18 – August 6, Montreal will be home to a showcase of over 100 feature films from around the world, along with a wealth of special events, conferences, and parties. Audiences can look forward to discovering numerous World and International premieres, as well as the Canadian debuts of some of the most acclaimed genre works from this year’s Cannes, Sundance, SXSW, Berlin, and Tribeca film festivals."

Big Bad Wolves: A young girl goes missing in the woods. She’s soon found, very much dead and upsettingly devoid of her head, the latest victim in a string of terrible child murders plaguing the town. A disgruntled vigilante cop named Miki (Lior Ashkenazi) is absolutely certain that he knows who is responsible, and that person-of-more-than-interest is Dror (Rotem Keinan), a timid and socially awkward schoolteacher. The cop pays off a pair of thugs to savagely beat the teacher in the hopes of getting a confession out of him, but that plan backfires spectacularly and a viral video of the ultimate example of decidedly un-civic police brutality tears across Israel, costing Miki his job. Now, all bets are off.

The Conjuring: Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, THE CONJURING tells the horrifying tale of how world-renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (featured in last summer’s Fantasia documentary sensation MY AMITYVILLE HORROR) were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most petrifying case of their lives. THE CONJURING is chillingly — and convincingly — drawn from the case files of married demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren. The movie stars Vera Farmiga (Academy Award nominee for UP IN THE AIR and a horror stalwart from ORPHAN, JOSHUA and the cable-TV hit BATES MOTEL) and Patrick Wilson (the INSIDIOUS movies) as the Warrens, and Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor as Roger and Carolyn Perron, residents of the house. Joey King, Shanley Caswell, Haley McFarland, Mackenzie Foy and newcomer Kyla Deaver play the Perrons’ five daughters, and Sterling Jerins is the Warrens’ little girl, Judy.

Curse of Chucky: He’s back! From the original filmmakers who brought you Chucky comes the terrifying return of the pint-sized doll possessed by the spirit of a notorious serial killer. When a mysterious package arrives at the house of Nica (Fiona Dourif, Casey from TRUE BLOOD), she doesn’t give it much thought. However, after her mother’s mysterious death, Nica begins to suspect that the talking, red-haired doll her visiting niece has been playing with may be the key to the ensuing bloodshed and chaos. The latest homecoming of America’s favourite toy, voiced again by Brad Dourif (Fiona’s dad!), is unrated and full of more blood-splattered thrills and chills than ever before. Wanna play?

Hell Baby: When expectant couple Jack (THE DAILY SHOW’s Rob Corddry) and Vanessa (MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN’s Leslie Bibb) move into New Orleans’ most haunted house, la Maison de Sang, they think they’re getting the deal of a lifetime… but little do they know, the ghouls that infest their new home have set sights on their unborn child — and they’re not giving up very easily! As expected, mother-to-be Vanessa is quickly overtaken by the home’s evil powers and soon finds herself addicted to booze, cigarettes, and the occasional homicide, while long-suffering Jack can’t seem to catch a break. Plagued by vicious demons, bumbling police, visiting Vatican priests, and a horny elderly neighbour, his crumbling home soon becomes the least of his numerous worries.

Willow Creek: Handsome young city lad Jim is a true believer — he’s convinced of the existence of the sasquatch, the elusive shambling man-beast nicknamed Bigfoot, said to haunt the wilds of the American West Coast. Jim’s girlfriend Kelly isn’t so sure. But she loves Jim and hey, joining him on his silly quest to craft a homemade documentary while seeking out the notorious creature, well, there could be worst ways to spend her downtime between bit-part acting gigs. The couple drives out to Trinity County, CA, on a pilgrimage to the site where the famous Patterson-Gimlin film clip, which purported to capture the mysterious monster in motion, was shot in 1967. Rolling into Willow Creek, they find a wonderland of Bigfoot-themed gimmickry and tourist traps, and chat with assorted locals. Some of the townsfolk are happy to share, while others are apprehensive. Their warnings become increasingly aggressive. The deep woods are no place for a couple of naïve city slickers — as Jim and Kelly are soon to find out!

You're Next: Family reunions can be murder. Some more literally than others. For the neurotic, bickering Davison family, get-togethers in their remote country house are never fully happenings to be looked forward to. Tonight will be the worst one yet. For most, it will be the worst they will ever live to experience. For, you see, the Davison family reunion is about to be crashed by a trio of ax-wielding murderers wearing animal masks.

The World's End: Twenty years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Simon Pegg, cast as the wild man this time, with buddy Nick Frost as the shy, reserved one!), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub — The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, the guys realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries…
