If R.L. Stine's Goosebumps books hold a special place in your heart (and on your reading shelf), then you know that there are seemingly countless stories to be told from within the spines of the spooky tales. Following 2015's Goosebumps movie, Sony Pictures will look to capture more of the Scholastic book series' frightening flavor in Goosebumps 2, which now has a 2018 release date.

According to Box Office Mojo (via Exhibitor Relations), Goosebumps 2 is scheduled for a January 26th, 2018 release from Sony. While plot details are unknown at this time, Rob Letterman and Darren Lemke, the director and writer of the first film, respectively, are set to return for the follow-up film, along with producers Deborah Forte and Neal H. Moritz.

While Jack Black has not officially been announced to reprise his role as horror author R.L. Stine, he is expected to once again star in the sequel. There's no word yet if Sony is hoping to also bring back Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, and Ryan Lee, the original movie's young heroes who teamed up with Stine to put his creepy creations back in the books they escaped from.

The January release date is quite different from the October 16th release of the 2015 film, which gave horror fans a festive option at the box office in the middle of the Halloween season.

We'll be sure to keep Daily Dead readers updated on more details as they are revealed. In the meantime, what would you like to see in a Goosebumps sequel?
