Gravitas Ventures announced that they've secured North American VOD rights to Brian Avenet-Bradley's Malignant, a new horror movie where a rogue doctor (Brad Dourif) conducts human experiments in an attempt to cure addictions:

"Los Angeles, CA (March 4, 2014) – Gravitas Ventures announced today that they have acquired all U.S. and Canadian VOD rights to MALIGNANT, the tense horror-thriller that was written and directed by Brian Avenet-Bradley (DARK REMAINS), and stars Brad Dourif (CHILD’S PLAY series, LORD OF THE RINGS series) , Gary Cairns (DAYLIGHT’S END), Nick Nicotera (DUMBBELLS) and Sienna Farall (INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2). The film was produced by Laurence Avenet-Bradley (DARK REMAINS) and executive produced by Modernciné’s Andrew van den Houten (JUG FACE, ALL CHEERLEADERS DIE). MALIGNANT is slated for a May, 2014 VOD premiere, followed by a theatrical roll out with a date and distributor to be determined.

A grieving man, Allex (CAIRNS), falls victim to a rogue Doctor (DOURIF) who conducts experiments on human test subjects to cure their "addictions." After blacking out, Allex awakes to find stitches across his chest and a video of a murder. Now he must confront the Doctor's horrific method for stopping him from drinking… a method with deadly consequences.

The deal for the U.S. VOD rights was negotiated by Gravitas Ventures' Mia Bruno and Andrew van den Houten of Modern Distributors, on behalf of Modernciné and Avenet Images.

“As a fan of both Brian and Laurence's work, I am thrilled our continued relationship with Gravitas will allow for MALIGNANT to finally reach our fans. Brad Dourif and Gary Cairns do a fabulous job in this suspenseful horror yarn," said van den Houten.

"After seeing MALIGNANT at Shriekfest this year, we knew we'd love to work on this one. Brian and Laurence bring a practiced and chilling eye to the film, and Brad Dourif achieves another in a long line of gloriously creepy roles," said Bruno.

Additional rights have yet to be assigned and will be announced shortly."
