Based on its big box office performance (earning over $1.5 billion worldwide thus far), it's no surprise that the Jurassic Park series will continue. Today, Universal officially set a release date for the sequel to Jurassic World and also announced the return of two cast members.

According to Variety, Universal has set their Jurassic World sequel for a June 22nd, 2018 release. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who respectively portrayed lead characters Owen and Claire in Jurassic World, will be back to play their roles in the sequel.

Also returning are writers Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, who will pen the sequel's script. Trevorrow also directed Jurassic World, but he is not lined up for the director's chair on the sequel.

Steven Spielberg will also be back to executive produce the Jurassic World follow-up, with Frank Marshall also producing. Stay tuned to Daily Dead for more updates, and in case you missed it, check out Monte's review of Jurassic World:
