Code Red is giving 1985's Nail Gun Massacre a high-definition upgrade and we have release details, along with a look at the cover art. Nail Gun Massacre on Blu-ray will be limited to 1,000 copies and is available for pre-order for $19.99. The title is expected to ship later this month and contains quite a few bonus features, including an alternate cut of the movie:

"In a small Texas town, the peaceful atmosphere is shattered when a beautiful young woman is the victim of a savage sexual assault by a gang of construction workers. Shortly after this horrific event, a masked killer begins a blood-drenched killing spree with the help of a pneumatic nail gun. Victims are nailed to trees! Lovers are nailed to each other! As the increasingly mutilated bodies begin to pile up, a local sheriff and the town doctor begin an investigation to solve the deadly crimes before the Nail Gun Killer finishes his gruesome masterpiece of industrial strength horror! Will they be able to stop this wisecracking madman in time, or will they be the last unlucky souls to get nailed? Is anyone safe from this gleeful psychopath's murderous mission?"

Special Features:

  • Brand New HiDef mastered created from the only surviving elements from filmmaker
  • Visit the Nail Gun Massacre Locations
  • Joe Bob Briggs interviews the cast at Texas Frightmare Weekend
  • Interview with director Terry Lofton
  • Interview with Whitey Thomas
  • An Evening at the Alamo Drafthouse with Rocky Patterson and Michelle Meyer

And Code Red revealed a second cut will be included with this release:

"When doing the new transfer and seeing the FULL aperture in the telecine, there were a lot of microphones, wires, light reflections and, even at the end, the legs of the killer flying up from a dirt pile, that were never meant to be seen and were printed on the film, but meant to be masked out in theatres. During one bedroom scene, the microphone was practically all the way up to the top of the bed with the actors! LOL! It would be silly to release it full frame and have microphones hanging in scenes, especially when they weren't supposed to be there.

The older master was probably slightly zoomed in to remove these mics, wires, etc. all those years ago when it was first created. And, if that's the case, perhaps ours will have a lot more side L/R info, since we didn't zoom in. I'll dig out the limited DVD and take a look as soon as I get a VHS check tape of our transfer to compare, but ours will definitely look far superior quality wise... and be framed properly.

SINCE THE OTHER LABEL SUPERVISED THE SAME 16MM ELEMENT WE USED. CODE RED WAS AT DELUXE AND FOTOKEM ON THIS TITLE! SO CODE RED IS PROUD TO PLACE A "BOOM MIKE CUT" ON THE BLU SO WE ALL CAN ENJOY THE MICS, WIRES AND ALL THE GOOD STUFF! NOW IT'S FRAMED PROPERLY AVOIDING THE BOOM MIKE AND ALSO ANOTHER VERSION AS A ADDED BONUS AS A "BOOM MIKE CUT"!"
