Cloverfield fans won't have to wait long for the third film in the franchise. Following the release of the ultra-secretive 10 Cloverfield Lane earlier this year, Paramount Pictures has now slated a new Cloverfield movie—currently referred to as Cloverfield IMAX Movie—for an October 27th, 2017 IMAX release.

Multiple sources, including The Hollywood Reporter, confirm the release date for the new Cloverfield film, which comes from J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Productions. Curiously, another Bad Robot / Paramount film known as God Particle has been removed from its planned February 24th, 2017 release date, seemingly cementing rumors that God Particle is indeed the next Cloverfield movie, although official confirmation from Paramount is pending.

Directed by Julius Onah, God Particle stars David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Daniel Brühl, Chris O’Dowd, Elizabeth Debicki, and Zhang Ziyi. According to THR, the film follows "crewmembers aboard a space station who find themselves alone after a scientific experiment causes Earth to disappear. When a space shuttle appears, the space station crew must determine if those aboard are friend or foe."

Rather than being a direct sequel to 2008's Cloverfield, 10 Cloverfield Lane just took place in the same world of the film, and judging by the plot details, it sounds like that is likely the case for God Particle as well.

We'll keep Daily Dead readers updated on further details as they are revealed. In the meantime, are you looking forward to seeing a third Cloverfield movie? Let us know in the comments section below.
